Lynn Estomin is a video and interactive media artist who creates art that speaks to social issues. As an artist who deals with political subjects, she is interested in human stories and what they tell us about society. Estomin has been active in and created media about the women's, labor, racial justice, anti-war and veterans movements for fifty years.
Lynn Estomin’s award-winning documentaries have broadcast nationally on PBS and screened at film festivals internationally including the Japan Film Festival, International Social Change Film Festival, Social Justice Film Festival, Belfast Respect Human Rights Film Festival, Barcelona Human Rights Film Festival, Oaxaca FilmFest, Japan Cuts, AFI Silver Screen, Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, and Dumbo Film Festival. Her web art was featured at the Austin Film & Music Festival and SIGGRAPH and won awards from Adobe and The Webby Awards. Her black/white and color photography and digital images have been exhibited internationally in solo shows and group exhibitions.
Estomin has received grants and fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Art Matters Inc., Cincinnati Commission on the Arts, Kodak Corporation, Ilford Corporation, Sony Corporation, SIGGRAPH, the Luce Foundation, First Community Foundation Partnership of PA and the Women's Film Project. Estomin's work is part of 100 public and private collections. The Society for Photographic Education (SPE) honored Estomin in 2021 with the Insight Award. She founded the SPE Media Festival and served as Festival Director for 29 years. Lynn Estomin is Professor of Art Emerita at Lycoming College in PA, where she taught photography, digital art and design from 1993-2018.
